View storage templates

Storage templates are a reusable set of storage requirements that simplify storage management for virtual data centers by eliminating many of the repetitive tasks that are required to create and make storage available to hosts or applications.

About this task

The Provisioning Template list view allows you to view and manage provisioning templates. If there are no existing templates, the following message is displayed: "To create your first Provisioning Template, Select a Storage Group, view its Compliance details, and click Save As a Template."

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Unisphere for PowerMax.
The home dashboard view is displayed.
  2. Optional: Go to the left panel and click Configuration > Provisioning Templates to open the Provisioning Templates view.
  3. Select a template card.

The following properties are displayed - template service level, workload type, response time, capacity information (number of volumes, size, and headroom), as well as workload characteristics (I/O density, I/O size, Writes, and Skew).

  4. Hover near the workload writes % to view a floating chart of the I/O mixture that the workload is running. Hovering over the sections of the pie chart reveals the percentages that are associated with each I/O type. Click anywhere off the charts to dismiss the floating charts.
  5. Hover near the workload skew % to view a floating chart of the actual workload skew.
The actual workload skew is a load percentage over the percentage of capacity that is used in the workload. Hovering over the line on the chart displays the percentages for actual capacity and load score. Click anywhere off the charts to dismiss the floating charts.
  6. Click the icon on the upper-right corner of the template card to view the back of the template card.
The back of the template card displays the name of the template at the top along with two charts underneath it. The top chart displays the set workload host I/O limit in IOPS along with the actual workload I/O statistics. The bottom chart displays the set workload host I/O limit in MBPS along with the actual workload MBPS I/O statistics.
  7. Click the icon on the upper-right corner of the template card to view the front side of the card again.
